Say Thanks By Adopting A Soldier On September 11

Rebecca Pikus is a Rancho Mirage real estate agent and friend of mine who reminded me yesterday that this Friday is the eighth anniversay of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

I turns out that Rebecca is a PenPal to six U.S. Soldiers. She writes letters and sends care packages. Her father was a combat soldier in WWII, so she has a special place in her heart for our military men who sacrifice so much.

“There’s nothing more lonely for a soldier in combat, who’s far away from home, than to receive nothing at Mail Call,” she says. “There are a lot of Patriotic Americans in this country, and especially here in the Desert. So, remember to fly your American flags on Friday, September 11, in support of the military families living in the Palm Springs area,” she adds.

Rebecca forwarded the photo above from the AAP Full Battle Rattle Newsletter. For those seniors and retirees who have a little extra time and would like to know more about the PenPal program, visit www.adoptaplatoon.org.
